Philip Davies

Philip Davies is a senior leader in international health, having worked across government, academic, and private sector roles in the UK and more than 20 countries in Asia, Africa, and the Pacific over the past 45 years.
He began his career as an operational research scientist with the government in London. Philip then joined Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) to help establish the firm’s UK health consulting practice before moving to New Zealand where he was admitted as a partner.
Subsequent roles included work at senior levels in government health administrations in New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji, as well as a spell as a senior health economist at the World Health Organization (WHO) headquarters in Geneva and four years as a Professor of Health Systems and Policy at the University of Queensland. He has also served as a vice-chair of the WHO Executive Board.
Philip has supported several government ministers and their staff to address a variety of health policy matters, including sector-wide reforms and negotiations with health industry players. A respected commentator on health issues, he has also addressed numerous national and international forums, and acted as a spokesperson in high-level meetings of intergovernmental bodies.
