Flying back to London from Reykjavik, I’m still digesting the 48-hour whirlwind that was the Women Political Leaders Annual Global Summit. From icons who led the way for female political leaders (like Helen Clark and Vigdís Finnbogadóttir) to the newest member of the Council of Women World Leaders (Katrín Jakobsdóttir), being amidst such a high-powered group of women was a truly inspirational experience and a reminder of what we’re working to achieve around the world.
We couldn’t have had a better venue to officially launch Atalanta and release our report looking at the status of women’s political leadership worldwide: “Getting Impatient.”
We are also grateful for the amazing female leaders who joined us for our breakfast reception and seminar, which focused on practical tools and strategies for female candidates and officeholders to overcome barriers to success. We were pleased to have representation from a diverse and accomplished group of women (and one man!) from Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America, and South America.
I’m leaving Reykjavik exhausted but energised for the work ahead, and hugely appreciative of the Women Political Leaders Global Forum and its Founder and President Silvana Koch-Mehrin for including us in the summit.
Onward and upward!
