Atalanta's Support for Holocaust Memorial Day 2025

29 January 2025 · 2 min read

Atalanta was honoured to support the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, running a comprehensive PR campaign to secure national coverage for the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

January 27th marked the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, and Atalanta was privileged to support the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust in delivering their national commemorative campaign for the third year in a row. Under the theme "For a Better Future," our work aimed to ensure that the vital messages of remembrance and education reached audiences across the United Kingdom.

At the heart of our work were the powerful testimonies of Holocaust survivors. We had the profound honour of working with Steven Frank BEM, Alfred Garwood MBE, Rachel Levy BEM, and Ivor Perl BEM, amongst others. Their stories of survival, resilience, and hope served as vital reminders of why we must continue to commemorate, educate, and stand against antisemitism and hatred in all its forms.

Our work culminated in the national ceremony at London's historic Guildhall, attended by distinguished guests, including the Prime Minister and the Prince and Princess of Wales. The ceremony brought together survivors, community leaders, and politicians in a moving tribute to all those who lost their lives in the Holocaust.

We were also delighted that His Majesty The King viewed the Trust's 80 Candles for 80 Years project at Buckingham Palace ahead of his visit to Auschwitz for Holocaust Memorial Day.

Across broadcast, radio and print from the BBC to Times Radio* and The Daily Telegraph to ITV, we helped to ensure that the memory of the six million Jews killed during the Holocaust alongside the other victims of the Nazis and those of subsequent genocides recognised by the UK Government were central to the coverage in the lead up to and on Holocaust Memorial Day.

Olivia Marks-Woldman OBE, CEO of HMDT, said: “We are pleased to be working with Atalanta again for our Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony. 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the fight against prejudice and intolerance is far from over. Atalanta’s team has the depth of understanding and nuance to help us navigate the media landscape, ensuring that the stories of survivors are shared with people across the UK, helping all of us to learn from the past to help create a better future.”

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust for entrusting us with this vital work and, most importantly, to the survivors who generously shared their stories with audiences across the United Kingdom.

As we look to the future, Atalanta remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote understanding, challenge prejudice, and work towards building a better world for all.
